solexa studio + workshop, situated near the northernmost point of the Isle of Skye, is home to a flexible approach to the design and making of a diverse range of contemporary items. Drawing upon techniques from woodworking, metalworking and engineering, we seek to create - in our versatile new studio and workshop - items which are both aesthetically pleasing and useful.

At solexa we are not bound by specific product types, but are guided by a philosophy of openness, experimentation and the use of fine materials to create objects of different kinds, often exploring new methods and techniques along the way. We see the creative process as an open-ended adventure, and feel that this is in keeping with the spirit of the beautiful Isle of Skye, from which we draw constant inspiration.
